Warioto Farm, Inc. 


Warioto Farm is located in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. We have 3 barns, 8 large pastures and 8 paddocks spread over 300 acres.

Over the past 35 years, we have gained national and international recognition for breeding and showing quality young hunters. Our boarding, training and individual care programs are known for giving superior attention to every detail concerning the horses and their owners.

 

A Bit About the Faces Behind Warioto

Joni Werthan

Owner and president of Warioto Farm Inc., has for over three decades pursued her commitment to breeding horses for the American Hunter Industry. Joni continues to put the work behind the words "To breed horses that combine correct conformation, kind disposition and athletic ability for the Hunter Industry." Joni has served on the boards of the Middle Tennessee Hunter and Jumper Association, International Hunter Futurity, co-chairman of the IHF Challenge Series, AHSA Hunter Breeding Committee, Washington International Horse Show, Nashville CARES Horse. Show and Family and Children's Services. Joni continues her involvement with many non-profit organizations showing her deep commitment to the welfare of both horses and humans. Joni can be seen showing in the Adult Amateur Hunter division.

Joni Werthan was honored by the State of Tennessee House of Representatives with a resolution honoring herself and Warioto Farm Inc on their exemplary achievements in the Hunter/Jumper industry.

Jim Willliams

We are thrilled to have Jim Williams training and teaching at Warioto, in a relaxed but professional environment. Jim has many years of experience training and teaching hunter/jumper riders to compete and win. His resume includes Assistant Trainer to Danny Robertshaw --training numerous Horses of the Year including Hoodwink, Arc de Triomph, Harvard Yard , and Platterdale. Trainer and rider for Kathy and Joe Patton (the parents of Beezie Madden) and Director of Riding--at Southern Sem College.

Jim also founded the CARES Classis Horse Show in Franklin TN, raising over $100,000 for Nashville CARES in the fight against AIDS

Warioto is thrilled to have Kelly Mullen ride, train and show the Warioto horses.

Theresa DeHoff

General Manager and Vice President of Warioto Farm Inc., Theresa came to Warioto Farm in 2010 with vast knowledge in the hunter industry, having worked for and with such noted professionals as David Wright, Skip and Anne Thornbury and Christina Fiore at River Circle Farm. Theresa spent many years braiding and preparing horses for the "A" circuit and setting up for horse shows at the highest level. She spent 5 years at Catherine Parke's Valkyre Stud in Georgetown, KY where she helped prepare Thoroughbreds for the Kentucky sales and oversaw the retirement program. She bring s unparalleled compassion and care to Warioto
Farm.

 

 

Molly Mitchell

Assistant Manager of Warioto Farm, Inc., Molly comes to us from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She has vast experience managing show hunters and providing veterinary assistance with both show horses and retirees. During Molly's hunter tenure, she worked with or assisted Bill Ellis, Amanda Lyerly, Mike Rheinheimer, and Jeff and Keely Gogel. Warioto Inc. is so grateful to Wendy and Mike Lewis for introducing us to Molly who has been a longtime friend to them and caretaker of Wendy's beloved show horse FORGET PARIS during his long and successful show career - and now happily retired at Warioto Farm. We welcome Molly and look forward to continued success in the showing and selling of quality show hunters.

 


As we go into our fourth decader, we are looking forward and are also looking back at Warioto's various accomplishments. Our vision - to produce show hunters that are bred exclusively for our sport. Warioto has owned and represented some of the top hunter stallions in the country such as Viscount, Fabled Monarch, Texas Fuel, Zarr, Perrell and Absolute. Warioto's horses have been USEF Horse of the Year, WEF Champions, HITS Champions and Best Young Horse at Devon and Upperville. We are excited about continuing to develop, show and sell quality hunters for the show ring.

 

As we begin a new chapter, Joni will be forever grateful to her best friend and partner, Julie Bush, for all she brought to Warioto Farm, Inc., both professionally and personally, making it one of the most respected hunter breeding and showing barns in the nation.
She will always be here.
